Accomplishments for 2023

An update of the City’s of Abilene’s compensation plan was the Human Resources Department’s most significant milestone in 2023.

Other notable accomplishments include:

  • A comprehensive review of the city’s range of benefits, resulting in a revamp of offerings tailored to employee needs. This initiative led to the onboarding of several new vendors.
  • Conducting 2 promotional processes and administering 2 entry-level civil service exams.
  • A successful United Way pacesetter campaign that raised a total of $70,557.14, reflecting an increase of $8,389.14 over 2022.
  • Establishing a partnership with a new vendor, Enterprise, to provide learning content. This agreement made 4,612 courses available to all City of Abilene employees.
  • Launching an upcoming Supervisor Academy to further develop the leadership team within the City.
  • Collaborating with Sedgwick to manage all FMLA needs, ensuring employees receive prompt assistance from a team of highly skilled experts.
  • Conducting a thorough evaluation and appraisal of all City property.
  • Achieving the most successful benefits open enrollment session in many years, with 98% of eligible employees electing benefits.
  • Offering Bexa, a state-of-the-art, high-definition portable breast exam service, at no cost to all employees and their dependents.
