Accomplishments for 2023


  • Parks and Recreation Master Plan completed and adopted.
  • Successfully developed, supported and passed a $24 million bond for two new Recreation Centers.

Special Events

  • Eproval website for Special Event Applications active for its first full year. Vendor permitting via Eproval went live in mid-August 2023.

  • Completed 2,377 work orders, 161 of which were preventive maintenance, and 2,216 reactive. 
  • Replaced 13 HVAC systems in-house.


  • Produced exceptional custodial service to more than 20 City buildings while faced with various building emergencies, construction, and other issues.
  • In 2023, the Mailroom processed postage and sent 61,173 pieces of mail and packages. This resulted in hundreds of dollars in savings.


  • Installed a new playground at Vaughn Camp Park March 2023.
  • Installed a new walking trail at Cedar Creek.
  • Renovated 3 walking trails (Redbud, Sears, Nelson).


  • Daddy-Daughter Dance sold 923 tickets.
  • Coed volleyball and kickball leagues recovered after the COVID-19 drought. 
  • All four Recreation Centers’ after-school programs hit maximum participants.


  • The Senior Juneteenth Celebration was moved to Rose Park Senior Center, feeding a total of 528 seniors.
  • Senior meals served increased by 19% from 2022 to 2023, hitting a total of 77,582 meals.
  • The Senior program saw an increase of 32% in activity participation from 2022 to 2023, rising to a total of 47,147 participants.

Veterans Cemetery

  • Achieved 100% overall satisfaction on the 2023 National Cemetery Administration customer satisfaction survey.
  • Unveiled the Cemetery’s Vietnam Memorial, completing a project almost a decade in the making.
  • Reworked the Cemetery’s “scattering garden,” creating a more enjoyable space for families to scatter their loved one's ashes. 


  • Began working with Sports Facilities Management, Inc., a third-party management company, to manage Adventure Cove and all splash pads.
