How the Residential Tier System Works
Water charges are calculated by how much water (in gallons) you use, and is charged based on what tiers your water usage "passes through."
- Example: If you use 4,000 gallons in one month, you are charged for those 4,000 gallons in Tier 1 at the $3.10 rate.
- Example: If you use 8,000 gallons in one month, you are charged for the first 6,000 gallons in Tier 1 at the $3.10 rate, plus the 2,000 gallons in Tier 2 at the $5.25 rate.
- Example: If you use 16,000 gallons in one month, you are charged for the first 6,000 gallons in Tier 1 at the $3.10 rate, plus the 8,000 gallons in Tier 2 at the $5.25 rate, plus 2,000 gallons in Tier 3 at the $7.25 rate.
