Multi-Sector General Permit
Stormwater permit coverage requirements have been established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) in order to regulate stormwater runoff from industrial facilities.
The current Texas Pollution Discharge Elimination System's (TPDES) Multi-Sector permit-TXR050000 was reissued on August 14, 2011 by TCEQ. It is in the process of renewing this permit which expires August 14, 2016. This general permit covers 30 industrial sectors which have a high potential to contaminate surface waters in the State of Texas.

- Permit requirements are based on either the facilities Standard Industrial Classification ( SIC) code or it's North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code. If your industrial activity is described by one of the required SIC codes, you MUST have permit coverage.

- If all industrial activities and materials are performed and contained inside a building or under a storm-resistant shelter, and are isolated from rain, snow, snowmelt and runoff, you may be eligible for a conditional No Exposure Exclusion from permit requirements.
