Proposition 5: Zoo

Abilene Bond Program Completion StampThe 2015 bond package included $1,030,00 for improvements to the Abilene Zoo, and were combined with $1.2 million in private fundraising to complete these five projects:

  • Jaguar facility renovation and expansion, adding off-exhibit space for breeding and rearing these endangered cats
  • New bird rehabilitation facility with room for the zoo's efforts to protect our region's native species
  • New exhibit of African lesser flamingos to greet visitors as they enter the Zoo
  • New giant anteater exhibit
  • Renovations to the fishing pier to provide access for guests with disabilities
