The construction of four new splash pads at various parks throughout the city of Abilene made up proposition seven of the 2015 bond projects.
Two splash pads opened in 2016; one at Scarborough Park, and a second at Stevenson Park. Each of these 3,000-square-foot aquatic playgrounds has more than 20 interactive spray features, shaded seating areas, and restrooms. Ninety percent of the water at the splash pads is recaptured, treated, and recirculated.
The final two of the four splash pads opened in 2018; one at Redbud Park, and the second at Sears Park. These splash pads also feature water slides, an interactive children's play area, restrooms, and shaded seating areas.
