2019 Young Audiences Schedule

Don't miss this exciting summer series designed for youth ages 7+. All performances will be hosted at the Main Library (202 Cedar St.) in the auditorium, each running 45-minutes.

SOUL STREET DANCE COMPANY | JUNE 11 at 10:45AM & 3:00PM

Soul Street Dance CompanyThe Soul Street Dance Company is a Houston based dance company offering great technical and artistic skills, stage presence, and wit to put out an amazing performance for audiences. With a repertoire ranging from the music of Vivaldi to Rock 'n Roll, Hip-Hop and every style in between, their excellence in dance and factual attention to subject matter has made them one of the top educational outreach groups in the country. This will be their first visit to the Abilene Public Library, and we anticipate one lively show to help kick off this summer series of live productions for local youth in the community. 

KEY CITY BRASS QUINTET | JUNE 25 at 10:45AM & 3:00PM

Key City BrassThe Key City Brass Quintet is made up of local music professionals from Hardin-Simmons University, McMurry University, Abilene Christian University & Cooper High School. Their repertoire includes a wide range of musical selections from classical tunes to popular children's songs.  Members of the group lead audiences in an interactive program that will teach them about what makes brass instruments so unique.  Come see the "hose-a-phone" and play a game of "Who's got the melody?"  Just don't miss out on your chance to be a part of this musical series at your your library. 

ROCHELLE RABOUIN | JULY 9 at 10:45AM & 3:00PM

Rochelle RabouinRochelle Rabouin is an entertainer, master teaching artist, performing artist, picture book author, and social science ethnographer from Lewisville, TX who will make her first appearance at your library this summer. Having been a performing artist since the age of 10, working with top notch jazz, folk, and R&B musicians, she would later work in TV broadcasting for 10 years, before then working with children where she found her passion.  Her goal is to provide fun learning experiences through music for all ages, and she will be on hand to entertain youth in two live performances at your library.

Magik TheatreThe Magik Theatre is a San Antonio based company that began in 1994, providing children and families with professional, accessible, literature-based theatre and education. With an incredible lineup of shows and productions, they have grown to host classes and camps to help educate even more people to spread their message. Both interactive and dynamic, their shows have been hits with youth everywhere, and we're pleased to be able to present them to you at the Abilene Public Library as part of this summer series.
