Minter Park Renovation

Downtown Abilene's Vera Hall Minter Park is set to undergo renovation in 2020.

Abilene's Parks and Recreation Board has voted to move forward with the $500,000 project that will rehabilitate the city park at the corner of Cypress and North 2nd Streets. Funding for the renovation comes from a combination of sources including private fundraising, TIRZ funds, grants, and Minor Improvement Project funds from the City.

Plans for the park have been finalized, and include a new digital waterfall and limestone wall, overhead projectors, a storybook garden, and a small area for outdoor performances and concerts.

Construction is expected to begin in early 2020.

Residents and visitors can expect the park to be under construction during the winter and early spring months of 2020 while work is completed.
