Cedar Creek Waterway

The City of Abilene is working with the Cedar Creek Waterway Development Corporation, a local nonprofit organization, to develop the greenbelt stretching from Kirby Lake to Lake Ft. Phantom into a series of park spaces linked by hiking, biking, and jogging trails.

Abilene voters have voiced their support for this project through the passage of Proposition 8 of the 2015 bond package, which provides $1,490,000 toward the development of the project. Learn more about the bond package and the status of the project.

As of fall 2019, the City of Abilene continues to work with property owners including Union Pacific Railroad and AEP Texas to acquire necessary property and easements for the waterway.
