Trout Fest 2020
Gotta Catch A Trout! - Trout Fest 2020
Saturday, December 5 through Tuesday, December 15
See what you can catch at Cal Young Park! To officially enter into this free contest, you must scan the QR Code on one of the signs at Cal Young Park along the Cal Young Park Pond. Once you’ve scanned the QR code, it’ll redirect you to a website so you can share your name, age, email, and your photo of your catch next to a measuring device. The photo MUST have your catch next to a ruler or measuring device to be officially entered into the contest. Even if you haven’t caught a fish, scan the QR code and fill out the information so we know that you went out to fish that day! Here are the following age groups and categories for our trout fest:
8 & under with an adult
9-12 with an adult
13-16 with an adult
17 & older
Biggest "Other" Fish
Most Days Fished
You can fish as many days as you want between December 5th and the 15th, just be sure to scan the QR code each time to submit your catch or to share that you went out to Cal Young! We'll announce our winners on December 16! If there happens to be a tie in one of the categories, a random winner will be drawn.
Also, be sure to share your photos on social media (Facebook, Instagram, & Twitter) with the hashtag #GottaCatchATrout for a chance to win a prize!
Please follow the state and local guidelines when it comes to practicing social distancing and other similar matters.
For those ages 17 and older, a valid Texas Fishing License is required to fish out any public body of water in Texas.
There will be limited loaner tackle available for the event. To reserve a pole, families can call (325) 692-0921 to arrange a pick up time. Families should also plan to return the poles after the event. For more information about the tackle loaner program, click here.
We would also like to thank Lawn Doctor for helping sponsor this event!
So who's ready to go cast a line? Get out, explore the outdoors, and happy fishing!
Here's the placement of the QR code signs at Cal Young Park! One is located on the north end of the creek and the other on the south end.
