The Abilene Police Department is proud to announce the graduation of Academy Class 58. Seven police cadets will graduate Thursday, July 22, 2021. The ceremony will be held at the Abilene Convention Center at 11 a.m.

The cadets have completed over 1-thousand hours of training in 29 weeks of intensive academic, physical, and mentally challenging training. Class 58 consists of seven males who will become Abilene’s newest peace officers.

The police cadets will enter their next phase of training with Police Training Officers while working the streets of Abilene. This consists of multiple phases and will take up approximately 15 weeks to complete.

Each cadet will be sworn in as a licensed peace officer and have their badges pinned during the ceremony. The keynote speaker for the event is ACU’s Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Ryan Bowman. It is our privilege to honor these men and women as they begin their careers as professional peace officers.

The Department will also graduate two telecommunicators who will become Abilene Police Dispatchers. They have gone through weeks of intensive training to reach the level of First Responder Dispatchers.

The dispatchers are; Savannah Woodward and McKayla Bennett. We welcome all of our new employees to the police family.
