[ARCHIVED] Multi-Vehicle - Pedestrian Crash

ABILENE, TX – Two citizens remain in the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash involving several vehicles and a pedestrian on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. The crash occurred at 1:23 p.m. on Interstate-20 at mile marker 284. A pedestrian identified as 19-year-old Kevin Ryan Day walked into a lane of traffic. He was hit by a pickup truck heading west. This caused a chain reaction where three other vehicles collided with each other.

The driver of the Dodge truck that clipped Day, 63-year-old Juan Rodriguez, was taken to the hospital with severe injuries. He remains at the hospital and is listed in critical condition. The driver of another Dodge truck, Adison Noah Herd, was treated and released yesterday. The driver of a third Dodge Truck, Bradley Neil, was not transported. The driver of a white Ford Escape, Martita Figueroa, was not transported.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash, and all occupants were wearing seatbelts. No citations have been issued and this investigation is ongoing.

 Respectfully,

 Rick Tomlin
