After a successful presentation in December on Getting Started with Composting, Texas Master Gardener John Geib will return to the library to host a workshop on Getting Started with Vegetable Gardening. Mark your calendar for Friday, January 14 at 10:00AM, and head out to your Main Library (202 Cedar St.) for another great learning session for successful growing in our part of Texas.
Programs relating to lawns and gardens are popular in Abilene, and we have a great lineup of local experts who lend their time and expertise to come share their knowledge with the community. For each session, feel free to come ready with something to take notes with, as well as your questions and get the tips you need from a trusted source.
John Geib is the Farm & Garden Manager at Geibs Green Acres in Midland, TX, managing a 3.5 acre farm with a large garden. As a member of the Permian Basin Master Gardeners, members of this program are enthusiastic about continuing their learning in lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, and gardening. These members receive educational training through the Texas AgriLife Extension Service of the Texas A&M University System, and in exchange for this special training, they work in communities as volunteers to share their knowledge with others.
Join Geib, and others in the community with an interest in getting started with vegetable gardening, and meet up at your Main Library on Friday, January 14 at 10:00AM for a great workshop. For more information about this program, contact Heather Carter at 325-676-6025.
