On March 23, 2022 at approximately 7:45 p.m., the Abilene Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 800 block of Cedar Street. Crews arrived to find a single family residence with heavy fire and smoke showing from the back of the residence. Crews made an attack and were able to extinguish the fire. The occupants were home at the time of the fire but were able to self-evacuate and were not injured. The Red Cross was called to assist the family. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the estimated value of damage is $75,000.
