[ARCHIVED] Detectives Arrest Suspect in South Abilene Bank Robbery

UPDATE: The Abilene Police Department’s Major Investigations along with the Federal Bureau of Investigations working on the bank robbery of the Chase Bank, put Fernando Enriquez, with a New Mexico address, into Federal custody for the robbery. Enriquez was stopped by APD’s Surveillance Apprehension and Tactics Team (SATT) and the Department of Public Safety Troopers in Merkel shortly after the robbery. The FBI is in charge of this investigation from this point forward.                                                                

Detectives Investigating Bank Robbery in South Abilene 

ABILENE, TX – On Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. police responded to a bank robbery at a bank located in the 3200 block of Rebecca Ln. A Hispanic male entered the bank, displayed a weapon, demanded money, and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

 A suspect vehicle was identified and a bulletin was disseminated to local and area law enforcement agencies. Department of Public Safety Troopers and the APD Surveillance, Apprehension, and Tactics Team stopped a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle, in Merkel, TX, at 10:30 a.m. The driver was brought back to Abilene and is currently being questioned. No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation continues.
