On Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at approximately 04:15 am, crews with the Abilene Fire Department responded to the 3100 block of South 2nd street in reference to a residential structure fire. On arrival, crews observed a single vehicle with flames coming from the hood of the car. The fire on arrival had spread to the nearby structure. A quick attack was made on the car as well as the structure limiting the spread of the fire. There were multiple occupants in their homes at the time of the fire and those residents in immediate danger were evacuated from their residence by fire crews. Due to the quick attack and being able to quickly bring the fire under control, the fire damage was limited to the exterior of the structure. There were no residents displaced due to the event. The fire is still under investigation and the estimated cost of damage is $10,000.
