The Abilene Public Library’s Summer Reading Clubs are headed your way next month. We have an exciting lineup of programs and activities planned for the community to take advantage of.
We’ll be spreading the word to our local elementary schools in AISD by delivering informational handouts for students to pick up at their school libraries. They can then take them home to help alert their parents.
This year’s summer theme is “Oceans of Possibilities” and we’ll be hosting many programs for families that relate to the ocean, as well as the creatures that live in the deep blue.
As a reminder, the club will run June 1 through July 31 and all branch libraries will have the full reading club information to pass out in June. Not only will we be hosting a ton of great activities to join in on, all free of charge, we’ll also be offering some prizes (courtesy of the Friends of the Library). However, youth will have to work for their prizes to earn them.
We’ll also be collaborating with the Children’s Art & Literacy Festival to offer a way for youth to earn a wonderful collection of six (6) buttons, from past festivals, through diving into great literature at your library.
We can’t wait until the summer hits as staff has been working very hard to bring Abilene one of the best Summer Reading Clubs yet. We invite everyone to participate.
