[ARCHIVED] Dispatch Center Relocating

ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Police Department Dispatch Center, which includes Emergency 9-1-1, is relocating to the basement of City Hall to the Emergency Operations Center. A water leak in the underground fire suppression system at the Police Department located at 4565 South First is causing flooding in parts of the department - including the Dispatch Center.

Citizens can continue to utilize the Police non-emergency number, 673-8331 for non-emergencies, and 9-1-1 to report emergencies. Services should not be affected by this change, but due to the migration of personnel to the EOC, there may be slight delays.

It is currently unclear how long this situation will last. However, the Emergency Operations Center is fully equipped to handle dispatch services as a backup.

The extent of the damages is being assessed, and more information will be shared once the assessment has been completed.

Respectfully,

Rick Tomlin

Public Information Coordinator
