The new Open Mic Night series at your South Branch Library kicked off with a bang. 40+ guests came out to support the talent that bravely took to center stage to entertain everyone.
Singing was the most popular form of entertainment for the evening as we were treated to original songs as well as current pop hits, and it was a joy to see all ages participating in new series at your library. However, music wasn’t the only highlight of the evening, we even heard creative writing as well. This series is designed to shine a spotlight on all local talent in the community. If you’re a singer, tell great jokes, perform magic tricks, are a budding poet, play an instrument or part of a small ensemble, Open Mic Nights are here to give you a place to perform before others.
The first session was hosted in January, and future sessions will run on the third Thursday evenings of each month, at 6:00PM, located at the South Branch Library in the Mall of Abilene. The next session will run on Thursday, February, 20 at 6:00PM. If you’re interested in signing yourself up as a performing, visit the event listing on our Online Calendar and you will be able to do so there. Each act is limited to 5-minutes (if we have a full roster), but as time allows, you may be able to perform a second time if desired.
Let’s work to make this program successful and to have the library be one of your new places to seek out live entertainment. Regardless of your age, all who wish to perform are welcome to do so, as long as you keep your act family-friendly for a library setting.
