On August 15, 2022 at approximately 5:20 a.m., the Abilene Fire Department responded to a commercial structure fire in the 4600 block of North 1st street. Crews arrived to find a vehicle under a carport next to the building on fire. A quick attack was made on the vehicle and the surrounding area. The damage was contained to the vehicle but fire did extend to the edge of the building and another vehicle that was parked close by. There were no occupants in the vehicles or the building at the time of the fire. Damages are estimated to be $20,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
