ABILENE, TX – On Aug 19, 2022, at around 7:08 p.m. Abilene Police responded to a major motor vehicle collision on I-20 eastbound, near mile marker 293. Officers arrived on the scene to find a single-vehicle motorcycle collision with two riders who had been ejected from the motorcycle. The collision also caused a fire in the center median of I-20. The male rider was deceased upon the officer's arrival. The female rider was being resuscitated by paramedics prior to patrol's arrival and would be transported to HMC. A witness reported to officers they observed the motorcycle enter I-20 on the on-ramp near Elmdale Rd. The motorcycle traveled onto I-20 but failed to ride in a single lane. The motorcycle crossed both lanes of traffic on the eastbound side and collided with the cable barrier.
The male rider was identified as Jason Gray, 43 years old, of Clyde. The female was Jason’s wife, Sheree Gray, 38 years old, who was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. Next of kin has been notified. The Abilene Police Department Traffic Division responded and is conducting the follow-up investigation.
