Night of Lights is coming to Safety City this holiday season, and donations are now being accepted to help keep this event free and fun for our community!
Planning for the annual Night of Lights at Safety City is underway. Last year was a huge success as we witnessed a large increase in attendance from the previous year. This year’s event looks to be even larger as we anticipate increased expectations after such a successful 2021. To meet these expectations, we have identified areas that require upgrades.
The Abilene Fire Department, the Abilene Police Department, and the Kiwanis Club of Abilene have committed to making this public event one of the largest Christmas events that is available free of charge. In order to keep this event free to the public, we rely on the generosity of those who are able to donate time and/or money to the Safety City Board. Last year, AFD, APD and the Kiwanis all contributed valuable man/woman hours to set up equipment, serve refreshments, decorate, host the event, and tear down and clean Safety City after the season was over. Our building sponsors also showed up in force as they festively decorated their buildings and even showed up to hand out goodies to the attendees.
This year, we are hoping to grow by purchasing four to five large commercial props to add to the Night of Lights event. Again, we rely on the generosity of others to help us achieve our plans.
If you would like to donate, there are two ways to accomplish this. First, a monetary donation to the Safety City Board for any amount. All donations are greatly appreciated. Second, you can sponsor one of the commercial props that have been identified for this year’s event. These range in price from $800 - $8,000. All donations will be recognized during this year’s event. Prop Sponsors will have a dedicated identifier next to their prop for every year that it is serviceable.
Please consider donating to the 2022 Night of Lights and help us make this year’s event very special for our community. Thank you for your consideration in supporting the Abilene Fire Department and Safety City as we provide joy during Christmas free of charge for all citizens.
