Your Abilene Public Library looks forward to participating in events being hosted in our community. It’s a great opportunity for staff to leave the confines of our buildings and meet you where you’re gathering to help tell you about what your library has to offer for everyone.
On Saturday, September 17, from 10:00AM to noon, we’ll be attending the Annual Buddy Walk being hosted at Beltway Park Church (South Campus) located at 4009 Beltway South. This great event is sponsored by the Upside Down Club of Abilene, which is a local support group for families in Abilene and the surrounding communities in the Big Country. Now running for its tenth year, we’ve been present for the majority of their celebrations, designed to promote acceptance and awareness for the Down Syndrome community.
At this family event, which is free for anyone to attend, they’ll offer petting zoos, horses, inflatables, face painting, knockerball, appearances from local high school cheerleaders and mascots, and over 30 community support booths.
Your library will be one of those booths and we invite you to stop by to pick up some free information, speak with staff about some great services we offer, and kids may have the chance to play a fun fishing game where our young guests will be able to catch the prize of the day! We’ll also have additional information including bookmarks, brochures, an event newsletter, some free swag, and more!
It’s a wonderful community event we enjoy and appreciate being a part of, and we encourage everyone to come out and show their support, as well as stop by our library booth too. We hope to see you out at the Annual Buddy Walk, again running on Saturday, September 17 from 10:00AM to noon at Beltway Park Church.
