On Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at approximately 1300 hours, crews with the Abilene Fire Department responded to the 400 block of Meander Street in reference to a residential structure fire. While units were responding to the incident address, crews noted heavy smoke in the area prior to their arrival. On arrival, it was confirmed that single family occupancy was engulfed in flames with heavy smoke and fire showing. A defensive attack was made due to fire conditions and the neighboring homes were protected by fire crews. The fire was contained the structure of origin. It is estimated that the fire caused approximately $50,000 in damages. The fire is under investigation at this time. There were multiple occupants at the residence at the time of the fire. There were no injuries reported to the occupants or Fire Department personnel.
