Fatal Crash in South Abilene – 2500 Barrow

Abilene, Texas – A crash in South Abilene claimed the life of one individual.

On Saturday, October 1, at approximately 4:40 p.m., the Abilene Police Department responded to a major motor vehicle collision in a business parking lot located in the 2500 block of Barrow Street.

The driver of a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, a 72-year-old female, was attempting to move her vehicle while her passengers remained outside of the vehicle.   Unbeknownst to the driver, one of the passengers held onto the vehicle door handle while the vehicle went into motion, causing the passenger to fall and hit the pavement.  This passenger, a 97-year-old female, was transported to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Next of kin notification has been made, and the deceased has been identified as Lois Jensen of Abilene.
