The community is invited to participate in the South Branch Library’s Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Designed for all ages, contestants may enter the contest solo, or as a team/family. Then by visiting the library, everyone will get the chance to vote on their favorites in-person, or do so online on our Facebook or Instagram accounts.
The rules of the contest are simple. All you need to do is get yourself a pumpkin and then decorate it for this spooky time of year. Unlike traditional pumpkin decorating, you are not allowed to carve your pumpkin for this contest. Other than that, anything goes. Decorate your pumpkin using paints and any other art supplies and accessories you’d like, remembering to keep all designs family-friendly.
Once you’ve completed your pumpkin creation, you’ll then drop them off to the South Branch Library during library hours from October 20-23. Staff will then place your pumpkins in a display for the public to view. During October 24-29 you’ll have the chance to vote on your favorite pumpkins in each age division/category. As a reminder, if you can’t get to us in person, we will have all the entries online for voting for on our Facebook and Instagram accounts. At the end of the voting period, we’ll tally the entries and name the winners on Sunday, October 30. Winning pumpkins will receive candy prizes for their decorating efforts.
We can’t wait to see what incredible pumpkins we’ll have to display this year, and would like to thank everyone in advance who plan on participating. For more information about the contest, feel free to contact Alyssa Crow at 325-698-7565 or speak with South Branch staff on your next visit. We’ll also have the printed rules and regulations for the contest too. Good luck!!!
