During the annual Mall-O-Ween festivities at the South Branch Library, we received a special visit from Gabriella Collins, the current Miss DFW for 2023. While visiting, she took photos with guests, greeted fellow trick-or-treaters, and helped to pass out candy. Having previously led a storytime with the library when she was Miss ACU, Collins will return to host several events for youth and families in the upcoming months.
Families are invited to join the South Branch Library on Thursday mornings on November 3 & 17 at 11:00AM for a special storytime session with Miss DFW. For each session, we’ll share stories, songs, and crafts, and there will also be time available for youth to meet Collins and take photos as well. Then on Wednesday, November 30 at 4:00PM, Collins will return to present a mini-musical she wrote titled “The Adventures of Taco Cat and the Alligator Friends.” Taco Cat is a palindrome, which is a word (or phrase in this ase) that reads the same forward and backward.
Collins is a Greek-American actress, singer, dancer, and musician pursuing a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Abilene Christian University. She also serves as an advocate for dyslexia education and awareness. For her visits to the library, she will be on hand to continue to advocate for literacy and dyslexia awareness through themed stories, as well as sharing her mini-musical that highlights the topic of dyslexia.
Don’t miss your opportunities to take advantage of meeting Miss DFW at your library in November, and participate in all the great activities your local library has to offer.
