Man Attempting to Flee Police Custody Crashes Car

JOiner

Abilene, Texas – On Wednesday, January 4, 2023, just after 5 p.m., Agents with APD’s Surveillance, Apprehension and Tactics Team and Patrol, approached a vehicle with a 21-year-old wanted driver by the name of Damien Joiner stopped in the 2000 block of Sycamore St.in south Abilene. Joiner attempted to evade officers, and, in the attempt, he drove through yards, and eventually crashed into another vehicle. The female driver in that vehicle was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers eventually made successful contact with the suspect and apprehended him. He was wanted for a Motion to Revoke for an Aggravated Assault charge. He will further be charged with a second Aggravated Assault and Felony Evading in a Vehicle for fleeing from officers. He was transported to the Taylor County Jail. A juvenile passenger in Joiner’s vehicle was uninjured.
