EleGARD Training

EleGARD Training AFD

The Abilene Fire Department and MetroCare have been cross training over new equipment and procedures to help increase the effectiveness of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for the citizens of Abilene. This new piece of equipment is called EleGARD Patient Positioning Device and it incrementally raises the head and torso of CPR patients to increase blood flow and decrease intracranial pressure. EleGARD was invented in 2019 and it is FDA approved. Abilene Fire will be included in about one hundred other agencies in the world using this revolutionary equipment. We have purchased eight EleGARD devices, one for every engine currently staffed in Abilene.

The instructor from EleGARD has been at the D C Musick Fire Training Field all week teaching crews how to use this device. On Friday, March 10th, 2023, the instructor will be free to conduct interviews between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Please contact me to set something up if you are interested.
