ABILENE, TX – A 44-year-old female hit by a vehicle this morning passed away from her injuries. Police were called to the 4500 blk. of South First Street at 5:46 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19 to the report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
Police arrived to find 44-year-old Rachel Butler laying in the roadway after being struck by a truck. She was transported to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Butler was in the roadway of the eastbound lane of South First when she was struck by a GMC Truck traveling east on South First St.
This fatal crash remains under investigation. Next of Kin notification has been made.
The initial accident caused a collision between three other vehicles, a Dodge Charger, a KIA, and a Ford Truck. No other injuries were reported.
