ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Police Department has increased traffic enforcement since May 1, 2023, and throughout parts of 2023. The increased enforcement will go towards helping change driving habits and making the roads safer for all drivers. Selected officers have targeted and will continue to target specific areas of Abilene by increasing enforcement throughout the year. This is made possible through a grant provided by the Texas Department of Transportation. Officers will focus on several driving factors, including speeding, distracted driving, seatbelt and child restraint violations, and Driving While Intoxicated.
This period of enforcement is wrapping up, but Abilene Police want to remind all drivers to practice defensive driving habits and slow down while on our roadways throughout the year.
The Increased Traffic Enforcement will begin again in August.
