Street Work Begins on downtown Central Business District street improvement project

Map of downtown streets set for concrete repair and reconstruction through the CBD street improvemen

Work begins Friday, March 6th on the City of Abilene’s Central Business District street improvement project in downtown Abilene.

The first portion of roadway to undergo construction is Cedar Street from North 1st to North 2nd. Over the next year, crews will work to reconstruct roadway in block segments through the CBD project area, which are the street segments depicted in red below.

At this time, drivers can expect road closures in the first two blocks of Cedar and in subsequent sections of roadway as work continues.

Area business owners and patrons are encouraged to contact the CBD project construction inspector at 325.514.4902 with any questions or concerns about the project.

For weekly updates on the CBD project, including information on where street crews are currently working, and their projected next segment of roadwork, go to YourAbileneInvestment.com and click on the Streets drop down menu, or click here.

The CBD street improvement project is paid for through funding from the City of Abilene 2015 bond.
