Abilene, Texas – A 35-year-old Abilene man passed away in a single-vehicle crash on Saturday, August 26, 2023, just after 1 a.m. The crash occurred just inside the Abilene city limits in the 5400 block of Highway 277.
Initial reports show that a 2016 Ford F 350 pickup was traveling on Highway 277. The vehicle left the roadway and swerved back onto the road only the leave the road again and striking the guard rail and a steel post before coming to rest in the median. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Justice of the Peace Joyner.
Next of kin notification has been made, the victim is Ricky Lee Tate of Abilene. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
