On March 9, 2020, at approximately 10:40 pm, the Abilene Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 3900 block of Pine Street. Fire crews arrived to find a wrecking yard with heavy smoke and flames showing. Fire crews made their attack from the perimeter of the fire with water and CAFS. Crews were able to quickly contain the fire and keep it from spreading. Fire was contained to one large pile of salvaged vehicles and parts. There were no reported injuries. The damage estimate was unable to be determined. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
