Structure Fire: 2200 block of Russell Avenue

Structure Fire - Abilene Fire Department News

On January 5, 2024 at approximately 9:00 p.m., The Abilene Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 2200 block of Russell Avenue. Crews arrived to find heavy fire and smoke at the back of the residence. Crews were able to quickly knock the fire down and contain it to the backroom of the residence. There were occupants home at the time of the fire and they were able to self-evacuate. The Red Cross was called to help support the occupants. The cause of the fire was determined to be candles left unattended in the back room of the residence. The estimated fire damage is $50,000 and the fire is determined to be accidental.
