Tax season is upon us and your Abilene Public Library is partnering with VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) to offer free tax help. This program will run Wednesdays through Saturdays at 9:00AM starting February 7, and only for those who have registered for an available slot.
To participate, you must make an appointment by calling 325-260-0406. This line will be available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 9:00AM-1:00PM. Walk-ins will not be seen, but an effort will be made to try to schedule you for the next available day. Library staff will not have the ability to register you to attend.
For more information about this program, feel free to visit our Free Tax Help page online.
Sessions will run each week through April 13, with the exception of Friday, March 29 as the library will be closed for Good Friday.
Limited tax forms will be available at the library, as we receive them, for you to pick up if filing on your own. Additional forms may be printed out online at the IRS website if needed and at a cost of $0.15 per page. Please know that library staff will not be able assist patrons in the tax filing process as we are not tax professionals.
