Residents urged to practice social distancing and sanitize at City parks

Remember to practice social distancing and sanitize at City parks

The City of Abilene’s Department of Community Services would like to encourage all Abilene area residents using City parks and playgrounds to practice social distancing, and properly sanitize before and immediately after visiting a park, touching any surfaces, or using any park equipment.

Community Services’ Parks and Recreation crews do not sanitize City park equipment or surfaces.

The Abilene Taylor-County Public Health District continues to urge area residents to protect themselves, and our medically fragile community members from COVID-19 by:

  • Practicing social distancing, maintaining 6 feet of distance from others

  • Washing or sanitizing hands often

  • Covering sneezes and coughs

  • Avoid touching your face

  • Staying home as much as possible, and especially if you are sick

  • Routinely cleaning commonly touched surfaces

If an individual feels they may be showing symptoms for COVID-19, it is important they first call their medical provider or the Abilene Taylor-County Public Health District at 325.692.5600 for screening and further instruction. Please do not arrive at a medical office, facility, or hospital without first making contact by phone and receiving instruction.
