Fatal Motorcycle Crash

ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Police Department Traffic Division is investigating the fatal crash of a motorcycle rider. The crash occurred on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 11:06 p.m. in the 3500 Block of North First Street. The single rider, 48 year old James Lee Park of Mississippi, was riding a 2011 Harley Davidson Unlimited, traveling east on North First in the outside lane. The investigation shows Park lost control, striking a curb located near the intersection of Westwood and North First, struck another curb, became airborne and landed in the middle of the roadway on North First. Park was thrown from the motorcycle due to the impact. He was wearing a helmet at the time of impact but it dislodged during the crash.

He was transported to Hendrick Medical Center and treated for severe injuries. Mr. Park was pronounced deceased on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Next of Kin notification was made. Alcohol may be a factor in this crash.
