Structure Fire: 1600 Block of Chestnut

On April 22nd 2020, at approximately 4:30 a.m. the Abilene Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 1600 block of Chestnut. Fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a single story residential structure. A 2nd Alarm was called as fire crews made an exterior fire attack of the home. The lone resident was able to exit the home safely and there are no reported injuries. The American Red Cross is assisting as needed. The structure and contents received extensive fire damage and is deemed a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
