At approximately 1740 on May 5th 2020, the Abilene Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at the 5400 block of Texas Ave. A second alarm was dispatched due to it being a multi family dwelling and a high life hazard. Arriving units found light smoke coming from an upstairs apartment. The apartment building which housed 16 units were evacuated and the fire was quickly extinguished. The crews were able to contain the fire to one apartment. No one was home at the time of the fire the fire remains under investigation, estimated loss is $20,000.
