Weekly Storytimes Returning in July!

Smiling Family

The Summer Reading Club is approaching, running June 15 - August 8 at your Main Library and South Branch locations.  At that time, feel free to stop by your library to start picking up your reading club packets, or start viewing summer activities online, as well as some great recommended reading titles for youth for the summer.

Due to COVID-19, one regular series we haven’t hosted are our storytime sessions.  Although we did host virtual storytimes during our closure, I bet many would agree it just wasn’t the same.  Starting July 1, we’re adding more of our storytimes back to our lineup.

Your South Branch Library will offer two storytimes each week on Mondays & Tuesdays at 11:15AM.  Monday sessions will be Preschool Storytime for ages 3-6 and Tuesday sessions will be our Toddler Time for ages 2-3.  The Main Library will host Toddler Time at 11:00AM on Wednesdays and follow that up on Thursdays with Mother Goose on the Loose for youth ages 0-3, also at 11:00AM.  Mockingbird Branch will be temporarily closed so no programming will be conducted at that location for this year’s reading club.

Due to rules and regulations brought forth by COVID-19, we will be limiting the number of guests who can attend these sessions.  You’re not asked to register, but staff will be monitoring the number of people in the room so we don’t have more than 50% of the room’s capacity filled.  This is only temporary.  Once we’re able to be back open with our regular services, more storytime sessions will be offered as was done in the past.

In addition to the morning storytimes, there will be afternoon storytime sessions available throughout July and August as well.  This will offer families with even more opportunities to take advantage of this service.

We encourage all families to join us in the return of our storytimes and allow our children’s staff to instill that passion for reading in your kids that they have in themselves.  It’s been a long time coming, and we’re excited to be able to offer this service to our community once again.  If you have questions regarding storytimes at your library, contact children’s staff at the Main Library at 325-677-2474 or the South Branch Library at 325-698-7565.
