Lib-Con has been an annual event at your Abilene Public Library for years, offering the community with a series of events and activities celebrating anime, manga, fandoms, comics, and more. After much discussion, the Lib-Con committee is saddened to say this year’s Lib-Con events have been postponed for 2020. We will instead move Lib-Con to April 22-24, 2021.
Originally scheduled for April 2020, our world was changed due to COVID-19, which caused for society to quarantine and for businesses to close or operate under new rules and regulations. Words like social distancing and social gathering became new terms in our vernacular as we worked towards adjusting to life in a pandemic. Your Abilene Public Library was no exception as we had to close our doors to the public, during a time in which Lib-Con was scheduled to run.
At the time it was our hope that we could move Lib-Con to the Fall and host a modified mini-con in September. However, rather than offer a condensed version of Lib-Con, we decided to postpone this year’s event and move it to next year.
We encourage you to follow our Lib-Con Facebook Page as that will be a great way to keep in touch with us. Plus, mark your calendars because Lib-Con will be back, and better than ever, April 22-24, 2021.
