If you may not already know, your Abilene Public Library has a new pet. Allow us to introduce you to our new axolotl, currently available to see at your South Branch library, but will later be moved to the Mockingbird Branch Library once it reopens. Check out a brief video we made introducing you to our new friend.
As the video pointed out, we hosted a naming contest for our new axolotl on Facebook. After dozens of name suggestions (and hundreds of votes cast), the name of our new pet is Sir Lancelotl the Axolotl. Pretty adorable if we do say so ourselves. Hear from librarian Marianne Vadney who shares some basic information on Sir Lancelotl, as we plan to keep him happy and healthy for the long haul as they can live to be up to 15 years. Now that’s something.
Following Marianne, Joy Harsh, the Education Curator from the Abilene Zoo, will also make a guest appearance to explain the difference between the endangered species and the one you’ll find at the library, what he eats, how he breathes, and how he’s really just a teenager that will never grow up.
Feel free to stop by the library to see him, as well as to learn more about the axolotl. Sir Lancelotl is just adorable and he’s always ready to meet people.
