[ARCHIVED] Captain Jerry Medley Retires

Jerry Medley

Today is Captain Jerry Medley’s last day as an Abilene Firefighter. After 47 years of service, Captain Medley is the longest tenured professional firefighter in AFD history and has decided to retire. He has served our Department well and we wish him the best in his retirement. In honor of his 47 years of service, Mayor Anthony Williams enacted a Proclamation declaring July 31 as Captain Jerry Medley Day. Words can’t express how thankful we are for the service and dedication Captain Medley has shown in every aspect of his job with the fire department. He will be missed but we are excited for the next chapter in his life.
