September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month, encouraging everyone to visit their local library to register for a library card and take advantage of the great services they offer. As a national campaign, library cardholders across the nation will have the chance to show their love for the library, along with the chance to win a $100 Visa gift card.
If you have a library card, you’re being asked to strike your best superhero post, with your library card, and then post your photo to Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #LibraryCardHero. One winner will be selected at random and will receive the gift card. If you don’t use Twitter or Instagram, you may also post your entry as a comment on the I Love Libraries Facebook Page.
The contest kicks off on Tuesday, September 1 at noon and will end on Tuesday, September 22 at the same time. Librarians and library lovers alike are encouraged to participate. Also, this promotion is open to residents of the U.S.; however employees of the American Library Association are not eligible to participate.
So break out your superhero attire and strike a superhero pose with your library card. I know we’d like to see them too, but remember, if you want a chance to win the $100 Visa gift card, you have to post your photo to Twitter or Instagram using #LibraryCardHero. But also email them to us at tremain.jackson@abilenetx.gov if you’d like because we’d love to see and share them too!
