The new four-way traffic signal located at the intersection of Ridgemont Drive, Rolling Green Drive, and the west entrance of the Mall of Abilene will be fully operational on Wednesday, September 30th. Drivers will need to be prepared to stop at the intersection as it operates through a typical green - yellow - red cycle.
The construction of the intersection and installation of traffic signals was paid for through the Development Corporation of Abilene’s (DCOA) 2019 contribution to the City of Abilene’s Street Maintenance Fund. The total cost for the traffic signals, approved by Abilene City Council at its May 14, 2020 meeting, was $196,760.40. The traffic signal improvements now complete the overall improvements to Ridgemont Drive from Rebecca Lane to South Clack Street.
Thanks to the contribution and collaboration of the DCOA, Mall of Abilene, Street Maintenance Fund Advisory Board, and Abilene City Council in this project, the new roadway and signal will greatly improve safety and traffic flow for drivers along Ridgemont, Rolling Green, and those entering or exiting the Mall of Abilene.
Residents with any questions or concerns about the new roadway and traffic signal improvements can contact the City of Abilene Public Works Department at (325) 676-6281.
