[ARCHIVED] Structure Fire: 4600 Block of North 1st

On December 05, 2020 at approximately 08:20 p.m., the Abilene Fire Department responded to a structure fire located in the 4600 block of North 1st Street. Fire crews arrived to find a small metal building with moderate smoke emitting from the eave area of the structure. The building was locked and secured and Fire Crews had to force entry to gain access to the interior of the structure. Fire crews quickly extinguished the small interior fire. Fire investigation revealed the only object that was involved with fire was a small office type rolling chair. There was some other minor smoke and heat damage. The cause of the fire is determined to be accidental due to an improperly discarded cigarette. Property damage is estimated at $500.
