Many of us collect items throughout our lives. Whether passed down to us by others, or picked up by ourselves, we collect antiques, tea sets, movie memorabilia, baseball cards, snow globes, spoons from around the world, the possibilities are endless.
If you have an interesting collection of items you'd like to share with people outside of your household, look to your Abilene Public Library to be a part of our monthly displays. Throughout the years we have placed many great collections on display from the community including Star Wars memorabilia, video games and consoles throughout the years, gems and stones, dolls, train sets, and more. Then, as guests visit the library, many stop by to peruse the items in the case and marvel at what they see.
Your Abilene Public Library has several display cases available for the community to take advantage of. Each are changed out on a monthly basis and over the years we've provided access to some great collections. We're now officially extending an invitation to our community for you to participate in donating items to be a part of our display. Two cases are available for use at both your Main Library and South Branch locations. If we select your collection to be displayed, we will set up a time with you to come to the library to setup your items, of which will remain locked within the case throughout their stay at the library.
After your month is complete, we will setup a time for you to come and collect your items so we can then prepare for the next display. All exhibit types are welcome, but they must be family-friendly and adhere to library policies. For more information on contributing to our display case, contact Marie Noe at the Main Library via email at Marie.Noe@abilenetx.gov, or Deborah Tarsiewicz at the South Branch Library at Deborah.Tarsiewicz@abilenetx.gov..
We also have an online form of the Display Case Exhibit Request that you may complete online, which also includes a copy of the Exhibits Policy.
