ABILENE, TX – Abilene Police Department detectives are investigating a homicide at a north Abilene home. On Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at 9 p.m. police were called out to a home in the 1800 block of University Blvd. for an injured subject. When police arrived the victim had been transported to the hospital with obvious signs of trauma from a knife. He was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. The initial investigation indicates that there was an altercation between the victim and the subject possibly known to him.
Next of kin notification has been made, the victim is 26-year-old Joseph Rogers of Abilene. This remains an active investigation. No arrests have been made.
