City of Abilene Announces Director of Planning & Development Services
The City of Abilene is pleased to announce Michael Warrix as the new Director of Planning & Development Services.
Mr. Michael Warrix was previously the City of Peachtree’s Director of Planning and Development. He has 30 years of experience in public sector planning agencies and private sector civil and environmental engineering firms. He served Brownsville, Texas, as the Director of Planning and Zoning, then accepted a position in Peachtree, Georgia for a similar position.
Warrix has also served as Planning and Community Development Director for the Kentucky municipal engineering firm, MSE, based in Lexington. He also served as Vice President of Planning and Community Development with Keck & Wood, Inc., a civil environmental
engineering firm in Duluth, Ga.
Warrix’s public sector experience includes working as an assistant planner for Greenville, S.C.; Community Development Planner in Berea, Ky.; Effingham County Coordinator for the Coastal Area Planning & Development Commission; and Staff Planner with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography with a specialization in urban and regional planning from the University of Kentucky.
Warrix will begin serving as Director of Planning & Development Services on Monday, October 15, 2018.
